Don't Approach A Dog That Is Doing This!

Here is a tip that you may or may not be aware of and could stand you in good stead should you ever find yourself in this situation....
Be wary if a dog is standing rigid and giving you a fixed stare and exhibiting any of the following behaviours
  • Snarling
  • Growling
  • Silent
The above behaviours are indicative of a dog that you shouldn't touch!

What is actually happening when a dog exhibits these behaviours is that they are showing you that they are potentially in a state of aggression and any further movements that you make could be a signal for the dog to go into attack mode.

What you should do is try to remain as calm as possible, look slightly away and maintain complete stillness which will both reduce your visual impact on the dog whilst giving you time for the dog's owner to retrieve the dog or the perceived threat to the dog potentially diminish.
